Hello all!

We have decided to do a small update in the groups guidelines and rules, and for that please do continue reading.

A new folder named "Mixed-Media Pixel Works" is open, and in here we allow submissions that have some NPA elements (non-pixel-art). Such are some elements that contain gradients, blur, etc. HOWEVER, it doesn't mean we can accept a piece that has all NPA elements on it. We will only accept a piece if it is well made and has few NPA elements. For example, it should not exceed around a 25% of the piece, and other rules such as huge watermarks still don't apply and will be declined.

Any questions feel more than free to ask.
Remember also to check the group's  Guidelines and Rules.

Regards,
Tatiana

This is a very disappointing direction Pixel-Artists are taking. Pixel by pixel with no tooling. This is PixelArt, anything else is digital drawing. The art itself by definition is simply creating effects in the most basic way with a limited palette in order to make it appear that there are special effects used. This is the very essence of PixelArt.

When I was Gallery Director for PixelArt so many years ago it was a constant and grueling battle to creating an understanding of what genuine PixelArt truly is. I was very supportive of this new group called Pixel-Artists when it appeared as I saw it a very positive way of showing by demonstration exactly what PixelArt is. It was not being about art snobbishness but simply keeping an art form pure...and most of all and most importantly alive!

What PixelArt is not is a tooled digital drawing. Up until now, this group appears to have been doing a wonderful job keeping authentic PixelArt alive and maintaining PixelArt as it should truly be in its defined form.

This new direction of accepting tooled digital art under the guise of PixelArt is seriously disappointing and may well do immeasurable damage to PixelArt on dA. It will certainly confuse people as to what PixelArt is when Pixel-Artists themselves are calling tooled digital art PixelArt. This is a very disheartening decision made by Pixel-Artists.
